Sjoemelmert Roermond
Sjoemelmert Roermond
The Sjoemelmert in Roermond has been a firm tradition in the city centre for more than 50 years. What started as a flea market has grown into a lively mix of street market, fair, hobby market, art market and record fair. Among more than 200 stalls, you can browse finds from local residents and city centre businesses. The market stalls are open until 8.00 pm.
Browse the stalls in the city centre
The stalls are spread across Zwartbroekstraat, Bakkerstraat, Kloosterwandstraat, Kloosterwandplein, Minderbroedersstraat, Neerstraat and Marktstraat. You will find all kinds of things, including second-hand goods, creative products, art, hobby items and unexpected finds. On both days, you can also browse through books inside the Minderbroederskerk.
Music, activities and fun for children
There is plenty for children to enjoy as well. At Kloosterwandplein, Discovery Museum from Kerkrade offers interactive activities about the earth, science, technology and design. Clown Tallie creates cheerful balloon figures at different locations, and there is a bouncy castle on Kloosterwandplein. While you browse, you can hear music in places including Zwartbroekstraat, Bakkerstraat and Kloosterwandplein. Sambaband Sambala also brings extra rhythm to the city.
Records, cafés and evening entertainment
On Wednesday, you can browse records and CDs in Graaf Gerardstraat. After exploring the market, the city stays lively, as cafés and live music continue until 10.30 pm at various locations. The Sjoemelmert gradually turns into a pleasant evening in the cafés of Roermond.
Come to the city centre, take your time to look, listen and browse, and discover why this market has been part of Remunj for so long.
