The building was originally built as a school in 1818. After a new school was built in 1850, the municipality took over the building and used it as the town hall. Over the years, the town hall has been modified many times.
The building has not always had a white colour. It was not until 1902 that the walls were plastered white. The roof was also replaced and the interior and the windows were changed.
In 1939, the municipal council decided to build a new town hall, but this was abandoned because of the threat of war. In 1952, the interior was radically rebuilt and the exterior restored.
When Roggel and Neer joined forces in 1991, the secretarial office moved to the town hall in Roggel. In 2000, the municipality gave the empty building a catering destination. The building has monument status.
